Voodoo beach with the nebraska boy, Austin :)

After 5 years of not seeing each other (him in u.s and i, s.d then back to Gambia) u'd think things would be awkward between us after he got back because we hardly talked, him being an aku pikin and having the aku mentality, u know, save money lol and me? im just bad..i cant seem to pick up the phone and call anyone! skype i will though..LOL! guess this puts me n my friend in the same category. Anyways, he gets back n we picked up were we left off like back in high school and this makes me happy because most friendships would've fallen apart...
We do have our moments on the phone,  i'd be 'opal and way too dramatic' as austin would put it and him, calm, will be like 'R u done'?? LOL!! kills me..urgh!
Anyway back to the subject...i decided to voodoo him this sunday 13/3/2011...i mean voodoo beach in kololi my loves lol since the poor boy hasn't been to a beach in like forever and it was awesome!
Too bad we couldn't swim cuz the waves were huge and the red flag was up which apparently is a warning that it isn't ok to swim so austin n i found our 'spot' on the beach, ate a rotten apple LOL! laughed at some guys who were tryna get their kung fu panda on and chilled like old times :) check out the pics
aww...look at the sushi lover!! isn't he a cutie?

Despite the sun, the was quite chilly hence the hoodie :)
Can y'all make out debbie downer aka the red flag in the pic?? LOL

Having a house by the beach is one of my many targets..amen!
Check out austin getting his baywatch on!! u go austin..woohoo!! LOL

Im not wearing ragged jeans today..My mum is happy!

LOOL!! im in love with ragged jeans! i mostly wear 'em with heels and a tee when going to work..yes work! My mum  and big sister HATE my ragged jeans..They don't get it! My sister is like 'i hope this is just a phase you are going through'.. Dressing up isn't a requirement in my field of work i keep telling them...that totally kills my mum when i say it! LOL she's cute... Anyway..yes..heels aren't comfy for site so when im going there, i trade in my heels for a pair of sneakers ( :( life of a technician)

Anyway its friday today and im wearing a bright african outfit..MY mum LOVED it! She was like 'janha yangi nice!' That made my day!! So i decided to write a post about it because i don't wanna forget her compliment..hehe

The bob! :) hehe

Thanks to this beautiful lady above for taking my pics today, love you Aunty Sai!! Jerejeff y njie!! lol Notice our colours??!! I heart it!!

I heart Eyelash Extensions!!

Yes..i totally adore the falsies!! I love how they open up your eyes,i have chinky eyes so this works in my favour and how they really make ur make-up pop!  I gotta confess that i used to hate them, infact i only started using eyelash extensions like 2 weeks ago! LOL and now im a strong believer in them!
If done right, the resulting look can be quite alluring but if done wrong..ladies, its all wrong!

I think the secret to getting it right is to finding the length that suits your face. I go for the short because i feel its more 'natural' (check the pics above) but there's medium, long, extra long and there's this, check out foxy brown...
They totally overpower her eyes..Big eyelashes make your eyes appear smaller and off-balance so girls you see ummm..length does matter! Get the right one for you. Check out jennifer lopez below rocking hers!

I get mine done by this adorable guy called david, he is a total professional and i absolutely trust him. Its very important you get your extensions done by a reputable salon or person because eyes are very sensitive and easily damaged. I've heard rumors that some people use hair glue for their eyes!! All i can say is, whoever does that is brave and risking alot! Lets do it the right way or not do it at all huh??

We do clean up well!

Haha..yes people! When we, technicians, are not under the boiling hot sun supervising construction works while inhaling cement and dust, drawing building plans, we do clean up well! 19/02/2011 we went to a youssou ndour dance and rocked it..check us out!!

That's me and my mentor, Awa fofana.. OMGEE!! You guys should have seen her badunkadunk in that dress! i have a pic but i dont think i'll get her man's permission to put it here! U go girl!! lol

Look at fatou you guys!! Looking fierce my zim zim!! lmaoo

Thats me and my sister, mammy! I love this lady soooo much!!

And this is how the crowd looked like..and yes there was a looong distance between the stage and where we stood and its not because we couldn't make it to the front but because my fellow party girls thought only groupies stand infront of the stage!! i have to confess that the last youssou ndour concert i went to, i was right at the front, holding my heels in my hands and screaming my lungs out!! LOL..Awa and them were like "none of that today oumie! we will keep u away from the front!'

We had sooooo much fun even though they were making fun of my dance skills..i'll have you know, i do the meanest 'wisah' ever.. dega dega!

This is how i looked that night my loves!

ps- I wont publish names but i saw some mean dancing from some of my guy friends when youssou started playing the 'salenj salenj' song! LOL i was pleasantly surprised!

A Day in the life of a soon-to-be-senior technician

So my loves, i have been m.i.a for a while now and i totally miss having the time to sit and blog my heart out lol.. These days my time is shared between going to site (i'll explain) and producing contract drawings. Yes, you guessed right..i work for a civil engineering, architecture and consultancy company. I'm more on the 'architectural' side, where im currently working as a junior technician and my job includes producing contract drawings using the archiCAD software (which is totally awesome and makes my job easy)
This is how a typical floor plan of the building looks like and is how the '3D" looks like
And this baby right here is my command station

So apart from drawing building plans, i've also started going on site. Site is where the building is brought to life, it is where the actual work is done
That's me sticking my tongue out haha.. this is how a typical site looks like. They've just finished digging the foundation and that guy with the wheelbarrow is about to pour the 'blinding'.
And this beautiful lady with the fierce hairstyle is my co-worker and mentor, Awa Fofana, She's a senior technician who is patient, always willing to give a helping hand when i get stuck with my work and gives me the best advice when i feel like giving up! love u awa!!
Thats Fatou, who is also a  junior technician like me. She's the one doing the actual supervision on this particular site,im learning from her too. I always have a blast when im on site with her!! lol..we talk about EVERYTHING!!

So you see guys? No time!! I miss my idle days..OFF TO SITE!! toodles!

All my single ladies put your hands up!!

Ladies, single and.....currently dateless 4 V day?? I know how you feel...its sooo brutal to us romantic souls who foolishly believe in the myth that is 'true love' but we'll survive it! Ummmm...yea...i said 'us', ima singleton,a 'recently-single'.. (i got dumped and yes it sucks but don't go all 'awwww' on me now people!!). Anyway my fellow lamba happily single club members, my post today is about cupid's day which is a week from today, a bit early??..smh.. read on
Cupid is actually the devil and V day is HIS day so y'all know this lil muthachucker will have us fairytale believers feel the chills of being blue while our coupled up friends are embracing the fiery desire of love.. so i came up with this, think of it as my blender and i've thrown in some 'Do's and Don'ts', 'Phew!Aren't you glad?', 'No regrets'...blah blah blah..hope You enjoy my mix!

1. Don't Go out alone on Vday! Better yet, don't go out AT ALL! lol..ok thats extreme but if you really wanna be out, don't go alone. Go with single friends and by all means avoid restaurants with romantic themes, go clubbing but what the heck, most clubs WILL be playing lovey dovey music so back to my first suggestion, Don't go out at all??

2. Don't Third wheel it! So your friend's boyfriend is taking her out and she feels sorry for you so she invites you to go with them and promises that you won't feel left out...girl you know she lying cuz she and her boo boo are gunna be like this all night
Can you imagine being the third person on this table?? NO! so don't agree to be the third wheel!

3. Look on the bright side You are saving money! Lol...call me whatever but i think valentine's day is a commercial holiday. Its not about love and relationships but about selling cards, flowers and chocolate..so the money you would have otherwise spent on those gifts could be saved or used to treat yourself!

4. Don't send yourself an anonymous gift! Girls, this is completely different from treating yourself.. Lol...i remember back in junior school how some girls would buy themselves gifts and pretend its from their 'boyfriends' so they won't be labelled 'lamba'!! Listen.. most girls don't get a gift in-return from their boyfriends,Gambian boys to be exact  so why go to that extreme??
Last and perhaps the most important to remember is....

5. Don't define yourself by your relationship status. Its is not your identity!

And to my love birds, happy val advance!!
